His hunger was abated by a cache of food, but these supplies were running out. He determined a life-or-death confrontation was at hand. So, Roy readied himself as the Brown Direwolf slept and struck fast.
The Direwolf was unwelcome to the disturbance of its slumber and found Roy to be quite troublesome. Its jaws opened as the Direwolf snarled and it leaped at Roy, slicing his arm with its claws as Roy tumbled across the grass. Roy found himself to be quite well matched with his opponent as he learned to evade the Direwolf by jumping through bushes, climbing up trees and dodging its swipes.
As his injuries accumulated from many cuts across his arms, legs, and deep slashes across his chest, Roy learned the Direwolf's attack pattern. He circled around the beast, throwing punches and kicks at the offending legs that stretched out paws of death. Eventually, the Direwolf succumbed to its injuries and became unable to fight back.
Even when the Brown Direwolf fell, Roy took the precaution of bashing in its spine
