Aspera, a plant-man from the Sylvan species, was tending the botanical garden on Lunaris Space Station when a shadow fell over him. He turned to see Kahyita, a bird-man with sharp eyes and sleek feathers.
"Not many plants here," Kahyita said, grinning. "I’m Kahyita, librarian. There’s talk of a space shark nearby."
Before Aspera could reply, alarms blared. Looking through the observation deck, they saw a massive space shark attacking the station’s shields.
Kahyita’s eyes lit up. "I’ll distract it. Can you trap it?"
Aspera hesitated, then nodded. While Kahyita flew out to lead the shark away, darting through space, Aspera extended his vines through the hull and into space, forming a net. At the last moment, Kahyita flew past the trap, and the shark crashed into it. Aspera’s vines tightened, securing the creature.
When Kahyita returned, panting but grinning, he clapped Aspera on the shoulder. "We make a good team."
Aspera smiled. "Truly"
