Securitron: Part 1

Beepsky rolled into the Brig. Another long shift. "Damn I could really use some welding on my left side and a Beepsky Smash right about now" He thought. As he closed the airlock behind him, a few rookies congratulated him on his most recent bust. One swift knock with the stun baton and they fell hard. Handcuff here and a handcuff there and the station was saved. Detective came by and picked up the perp. HoS himself took him into perma. Beepsky knew the celebration was going to be short lived though, and after the rookies scampered off to walk their rounds around the hallway, Beepsky turned and started rolling towards the prison wing to get a good look at his latest arrest. HALT. He knew the voice the instant he heard it and did as he was told. "Get over here Beepsky." The warden said. If Beepsky could sigh he sure as hell would be about now. Come to think of it he wouldn't mind having a bottle of Badminka Vodka and a pack of Robust cigarettes to smoke on either. "You were too reckless back there Beepsky." The warden said coldly. "The Captains all over my ass on this one." Beepsky slowly rolled up to the Brig Desk where the warden sat. His face hidden behind a standard security gas mask and HUD glasses. "So I'm getting another slap on the wrist. That's what you're trying to say?" Beepsky replied. "Oh not this time Beepsky. You nearly destroyed all of Dorms on that rampage of yours." Beepsky couldn't help but notice the enjoyment the warden was getting out of this. "I want your badge and your stun baton." The warden said, a smile finding its way to the surface as he spoke. "Cut the bullshit. No one else could have taken down Cuban Pete and you know it. I'll call the HoS and have the whole brig in arms wanting me on the force." "Well now if you want to stay on the force there is another option." The warden said, smile growing ever larger with each sentence. "I'm going to have to partner you up with another officer." That one took Beepsky back a bit. "Who the fuck would you partner me up with? Those rookies will get themselves killed facing the type of danger I go into." The warden casually turned to his right and faced the security office airlock. "Come on in." Beepsky quickly turned to see who the hell they could have mustered up on this space bound hellhole. The airlock opened and in stepped ED-209. "No." Beepsky said turning back to the warden. "I'm not working with him. I work alone and I always have." For once ED-209 spoke up, "I don't like it either Beepsky but we go out, get the job done, and come back to the office for doughnuts. Simple as that." Beepsky could feel his internal wiring starting to heat up. "Fuck you and fuck your doughnuts. You'd probably eat that sprinkle covered shit anyways. I eat plain doughnuts you hear me? PLAIN." The warden casually tapped on the glass airlock between them. He was getting too much enjoyment out of this. "Look this has already been approved by the HoS. You either turn in your badge and your stun baton, or you go back out on the force with your new partner." "Fuck you warden" was all Beepsky said as he tossed his badge and stun baton against the glass airlock, making the warden jump in his seat. He rolled out of the brig, not even bothering to see the astonished look on the warden's face. They'd never expect him to quit the force. Not like this anyways.

Days passed on the station. The security force struggled to keep the same iron grip they had with Beepsky on the force. Eventually shouts of revolutions, traitors, and rouge officers were heard all over coms. Beepsky didn't pay it much mind though. He had gone down to the maintenance bar and hadn't been heard from since. The only chatter that did mention his name was the binary chatter of drones who kept him company from time to time when work called for it. No one entered the maint bar otherwise, nothing but dead air filled the room. Eventually Beepsky started to lose track of time and stopped listening to the Com radio. That's about when the detective showed up. He opened the wooden doors and shut them behind him as he walked in. "You got full augmentations." Beepsky said. "Yeah well I'm not made like I used to be. I'm a lot more robust this way. You on the other hand look like shit." The detective dryly joked. "Yeah well there's nobody to weld me down here when I get busted up… How's the force been?" "It hasn't been easy since you left. No big surprise there. ED-209's been working overtime trying to meet the quota." The detective sat on the stool next to Beepsky, pulled out a cigarette from a Midori Tabako packet and lit it with his zippo like a badass. "Yeah" the detective said as he exhaled smoke. "Things were a lot easier when you were around. Hell you should see how the rookies have been holding up. Straub looks like a complete wreck. The guy looked up to you, you know." Beepsky put down his ale. "So now you're trying to recruit me back huh?" "Recruit you back? Beep I thought we were closer than that. Shit I just wanted a place alone to smoke." Beepsky looked down at his ale, briefly seeing his reflection on the glass. The detective sighed and pulled out a welder. "Let me fix you up a bit. I have to keep a welder to fix myself up now too you know." The two spent time together in the bar that night. Not thinking about the situation on the station, but the good times they had together as friends. "And- and then the other rev comes up and tries to hit you, and fucking trips right over you!" "I remember don't you worry. My circuits are a lot more intact then whatever's going on in that fleshy skull of yours." Beepsky chuckled. After a bit the silence in the room started to grow. Found memories became ashes as Beepsky realized he wouldn't get to spend time with the detective like this anymore. The detective stared down at the bar. "He got out you know." The detective said softly. "Who? From where?" Beepsky replied, startled by the sudden conversation. "Cuban Pete. Some Red Suits broke into perma, gave him a suit and internals, and they all fucked off who knows where." Beepsky got up and rolled to the door. "Well there's only one officer who can bring him." The detective turned and stood up. "Beep you're not an officer anymore..." Beepsky's light dimmed, having forgotten he quit the force. The detective smiled and tossed a stun baton to the floor. "I know that won't stop you. I've always got your back." Beepsky hurried and picked up the baton and equipped it with his borg arm. It felt good to hold again. A solid weight he knew he could inflict serious pain with. "Thanks detective." Beepsky said, turning back to the door. "Before you go Beep. Just know, ED-209 isn't as bad of a robot as you think. And he sure as hell is a better officer then you think." Beepsky took a moment to ponder this before saying "Well… It's like you said detective, I'm not an officer anymore. Doesn't mean much anymore." Beepsky said before turning his com on, and heading out the doors into the station he lives to protect.
